On 17 September 2026, DIGI-Rangeland participated in the second edition of GALIA TECH, an event organised by DIH DATAlife and focused on bringing Artificial Intelligence closer to companies, organisations and innovation stakeholders across Galicia. Held at the Lux Events Center in Santiago de Compostela, the event brought together representatives from the business, research and innovation ecosystem to discuss current developments in AI, its practical applications and the opportunities and challenges associated with its adoption.

The programme combined expert presentations, real-world examples and networking opportunities, with a particular focus on how AI is already being integrated into different sectors and organisations. The day opened with institutional contributions from DATAlife and IGAPE, followed by sessions addressing AI applications in strategic Galician sectors, the adoption of AI by organisations and the regulatory framework surrounding AI in Spain, including a contribution from AESIA, the Spanish Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence.

The agenda also explored the role of AI in Innovation Hubs and SMEs, as well as entrepreneurship, investment and the creation of new technology-based businesses. Later sessions focused on AI and health, including opportunities and risks, and the services developed through DATAlife and its AIHealth Factory. The programme concluded with an institutional session, while the event also provided dedicated opportunities for participants to connect and exchange during the networking breaks.

DIGI-Rangeland at the networking area

DIGI-Rangeland was represented through a stand in the networking area, hosted by FEUGA and represented by Eva Pérez Vidal and Ana Freitas. The stand provided an opportunity to present the project to visitors and participants, introduce its work on digital innovation for rangeland livestock farming systems, and exchange with organisations working on digitalisation, data and emerging technologies.

The FEUGA stand also featured information about other European initiatives, including HEREDITARY and DIH DATAlife, creating a broader showcase of projects working at the intersection of digital technologies, data and innovation.

During the exposition, they showcased one of the DTIs being tested within DIGI-Rangeland: virtual fencing technology from Innogando. This solution is being implemented in the Ancares, in Galicia, as part of the project, demonstrating how digital tools can support livestock management in rangeland areas.

DIGI-Rangeland was further represented through the presence of other project partners. The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) was also present, with Javier R. Rigueiro, National Facilitator for Spain, taking part in the event. Their participation helped reinforce the project’s presence within the Galician innovation ecosystem and provided additional opportunities to engage with local stakeholders.

Connecting DIGI-Rangeland with the wider digital innovation ecosystem

Participation in GALIA TECH offered DIGI-Rangeland an opportunity to increase the visibility of the project among organisations working on digital innovation in Galicia, while exploring connections with companies, knowledge centres, innovation hubs and other stakeholders interested in the application of emerging technologies.

For a project focused on accelerating digital innovation in rangeland livestock farming systems, events such as GALIA TECH are particularly relevant for opening conversations around the technologies that can support farmers and land users, from data-driven solutions to AI-enabled tools and other digital innovations.

By bringing DIGI-Rangeland together with initiatives such as HEREDITARY and DIH DATAlife, as well as with project partners and stakeholders from the regional innovation ecosystem, GALIA TECH provided a valuable space for networking, knowledge exchange and identifying potential synergies for future collaboration.
